FLG Bike Party has put together a petition asking the Flagstaff City Council to prioritize funding cycling infrastructure.
Although there is some groundwork in place that should greatly benefit cycling, walking and transit, (Proposition 419, and the Flagstaff Active Transportation Master Plan), FLG Bike Party, and Flagstaff Biking Organization, feel that these plans come up short and are a little too little, a little too late.
The unfortunate tragedy of a tow truck driver hitting six cyclists, severely injuring four and killing Joanna Wheaton, has galvanized numerous members of Flagstaff’s cycling community to take more substantial action, and we support this.
Please go immediately to any of the below listed businesses and sign the petition by Wednesday (tomorrow!) before noon, or print this copy out, have household members and friends sign it and drop it at Cosmic Cycles no later than 3:00 pm tomorrow.
You can also head to Wheeler Park today, Tuesday June 8th between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm to sign the petition.
The urgency in this case is that the City Council is about to recess for the summer and it is important to get this petition in front of them ASAP. Although not as impactful, people can still sign the petition after tomorrow for submission after the Council’s recess.
