We don’t like to think of it as the end of “Bike to Work”, but the beginning!
If this week got you riding, don’t stop because today is the last day of the event! Bicycling is all about momentum, so use the momentum we gathered this week, and keep on riding Flagstaff!
Come on over to the Green Room tonight!
Our closing event for the week promises to be awesome! We’ll be raffling off the New Belgium Brewing cruiser bike, Flag Sprints will be hosting Gold Sprints all evening, Tina La Chance will be showing her line of fashionable bike apparel, music later by the Skanksters…an all around good time for the adult cyclist! Be sure to purchase some raffle tickets, which will be available at the event tonight, and until 4:30 here. Need not be present to win.
And the Golden Sprocket Winners are…
Every year Flagstaff Biking Organization and Safe Kids Coalition promote Bike to School Day during Bike to Work Week. This year we counted 619 bikes in the racks outside of Flagstaff’s schools! The schools with the greatest percentage participation are awarded one of the four the Golden Sprocket Awards , (allocated by size of school, basically).
This year’s winners are:
-Flagstaff High-32 riders / 2% (c’mon high schoolers…let’s get those numbers up again next year!)
-Marshall Elementary-191 riders / 37% (WOW!)
-Pine Forest Charter School-58 riders / 27%
-Flagstaff Junior Academy (4th Street)-15 riders / 16%
Student Films were Awesome!
Thanks to all of our contestants! First place went to Derek Dressler, second place went to Statyn Johnson, third place was a tie between Julian Drosler’s movie and Dain Austin’s and Ben Lasley’s submission.
Stay tuned. We’ll be posting the movies online soon!
