Since 2002, Flagstaff Biking Organization has built a successful partnership with the US Forest Service and Coconino County Parks and Recreation by collaborating with them on Trail Days. These trail development days are managed by the Forest Service and/or County Parks & Recreation who supply tools & staff that share trail building instruction and information on overall forest health. As part of the partnership, Flagstaff Biking Organization advertises and plans the event, recruits volunteers, and provides food, water and snacks to sustain the volunteers throughout the day. Thus far, this partnership has been successful by improving, obliterating, or creating significant sections of trails in the Coconino National Forest and Coconino County open space and parks. The largest event of the year, National Trails Day, has recruited more than 100 people in each of the past four years. In 2013, there were 8 Trail Day events, using over 300 FBO volunteers representing over 2,200 volunteer hours that improved conditions on over 10 miles of trail.
