Your voice matters—share your input with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) on important transportation issues shaping Northern Arizona’s future!

ADOT had previously included this incredibly significant project for Flagstaff in its Draft Five Year Plan but they removed it!

Please send an email to ADOT and the Arizona State Transportation Board and let them know specifically how this project would improve safety and transportation quality for you and your family and/or business! (Details on how to send you letter below.)

This project would only require $5 million from ADOT. The City of Flagstaff has committed to adding the additional $3 million necessary to complete the funding. Although these may seem like large amounts, this is a relatively small project by ADOT standards.

The project would:

  • Create continuous sidewalks, including filling gaps near Sechrist
  • Create continuous bike facilities, including shoulder widening between Magdelena and Hidden Hollow
  • Upgrades at Sechrist crossing, including lighting and flashing pedestrian beacons
  • New bike/ ped crossings at Humphreys/ Fine, Forest, Meade, Anderson, and one associated with MNA
  • Bike detection loops at Schultz Pass Drive
  • ADA improvements

This graphic shows specifically where and what improvements would be made:

You can read Flagstaff Biking Organization’s letter to ADOT and the Arizona State Transportation Board here:

  • Please be polite
  • There are three schools, three museums, several trail accesses, a popular road cycling route, numerous residential neighborhoods and many businesses along this corridor. Let ADOT know that the safety of you and your family are paramount in accessing these places!
  • Tell your story! You aren’t writing a legal document, you’re hoping to appeal to decision maker’s compassion and concern for public safety.

BEFORE MAY 15th!
PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO: fiveyearconstructionprogram@azdot.gov and boardinfo@azdot.gov

In addition to sending direct comments regarding the US 180 Project as mentioned above, please take the below survey, and consider attending the Virtual Meeting on Active Transportation (biking, walking…) this coming Thursday, April 30th at 2:00 PM. Read on for details.

Take the Short Survey and add to the Interactive Map!

Your input will help shape the vision for Arizona’s statewide transportation system.

Join the Statewide Virtual Active Transportation Forum on April 30, 2026, at 2 p.m.

The Listening Tour is something ADOT has never done before. We are reaching deep into local communities across the state to strengthen relationships and work together to develop a shared statewide vision for the future of transportation. We call this “Next Move Arizona.”

We are holding this forum to listen, learn, build strong relationships with communities, and work toward a shared vision for the future of transportation in our state.

Please come prepared to discuss the following:

  1. What does active transportation mean to you?
  2. What should ADOT’s role be in active transportation?
  3. What is your active transportation vision for Arizona
  4. Share your active transportation challenges and success stories.

ADOT is hosting and participating in virtual and pop-up events across the State.

Stop by Flagstaff Hullabaloo in Flagstaff, Arizona on Sunday, June 7.
