If you have always wanted to be more involved in the work Flagstaff Biking Organization does on trails, here is your chance! We are seeking people who are interested in helping to plan, set up and run our trail dates with the U.S. Forest Service, Coconino County, the City of Flagstaff and others. Some training on construction and layout techniques is desirable, but our first trail day of the year

Coconino County Parks and Recreation calls on volunteers to join the Trail Day to complete the connector trail from Fir to Sechrist Elementary School on Sunday, October 14 from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. We will meet at Sechrist Elementary School parking lot. Please wear closed toe shoes and outdoor clothing. Tools and lunch will be provided. Saturday, October 6 is IMBA’s annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. Because Tour de Fat will be here in Flagstaff on October 6, FBO will lead a kids’ (and parents’) ride on the following day, Sunday October 7. The Gunnison National Forest (GMUG) is proposing to manage mountain bikes as motorized vehicles as part of their implementation of the National Travel Management Rule. This decision is counter to an International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the USDA Forest Service that agrees that mountain bikes shoud be managed similarly to equestrians and hikers. This Proposed Action would also close several trails to mountain bike use.
This Saturday’s trail day is postponed until August 25th. Coconino Trails Riders motorcyclists would like to invite the members of Flagstaff Biking to join us during this summer’s CTR Trail Days.
