Thursday BTWW Update

Flummoxed by our own success! The turn-out for Bike to Work Week 2008 has been Phenomenal! Flag Rocks! We’ve had so many participants we have to upgrade our server! Most of the contests were too close to call but we have these: Sinagua High School won the Golden Sprocket Trophy for highest bike-commuting rate. Flagstaff High placed second. Good Going Yall! Wednesday Bike to Work Week Update

Turnout for Bike to Work Week has been FANTASTIC so far. Most people have had no problem logging in their miles. We have heard from a few who forgot to enter past day’s commutes, and it with regret that FBO cannot enter those commutes after the fact. But remember! When more of us bike commute… we are ALL winners. Even if we don’t win a great Breezer bike (this year).

Bike to Work Week Update

Monday morning’s Kick-Off Commuter Ride was a huge success with over 200 cyclists showing up to support cycling in Flagstaff. Mayor Joe Donaldson led the parade with Kevin Burke, Flagstaff City Manager, and Martin Ince, Flagstaff’s Multi-Modal Planner. After the parade Jack Welch was awarded the FBO 2008 Bicycle Advocacy Award and was also presented a bicycle as a token of his SuperHero Powers of Cycling Goodness! Way to go

The WORKSITE CHALLENGE is ON!

The moment so many have awaited! You can Log Your Commute NOW! CLICK HERE! A Great time was had by all at yesterday’s Bike Bazaar and Swap, and the Human Powered Parade. We had perfect weather and a fine crowd of bike enthusiasts, bike merchants, bikes, families on bikes, and bike gear. Bikes had one wheel, 2 wheels, and up to 4 wheels. FBO teams with IMBA for two great events

Did you see an IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) Subaru in town this weekend? Anna and Jason, one of the traveling Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews, came to Flagstaff to meet with local trail builders and managers and to lead a workshop on sustainable trail design and building. Worksite Coordinators for Bike to Work Week can pick up their worksite challenge information packages this week at 2 convenient locations in downtown Flagstaff: Tuesday, April 29th, 5:30-7 pm at Pay-N-Take, 12 W Aspen Ave Thursday, May 1st, 6:30 to 7:30 pm at Flagstaff Brewing Company, 16 E Rt 66. Youth Mountain Biking Program's first Flagstaff ride of 2008!

Our next Youth Mountain Biking Program ride will be Sunday, April 13 at Fort Tuthill Park, at the south end of Flagstaff off Rt. 89A. We will ride at 10:30 from the parking/picnic area closest to the park entrance across from the I-17 overpass. Please arrive by 10:15 so we can get started on time.
