URGENT! Please attend joint City Council-County Supervisors Meeting, this Monday, March 12th, 4:00 pm, Flagstaff City Hall
We expect that representatives from Senator John McCain’s staff, Representative O’Halleran’s staff, and the Arizona State Land Department will be present. All you need to do is be in the room to show support for keeping the public land and trails surrounding Flagstaff public! WE NEED A LOT OF PEOPLE TO MAKE THE CASE THAT THIS IS VITAL TO FLAGSTAFF!
The Flagstaff City Council and Coconino County Board of Supervisors will be holding a joint meeting. The only agenda item is Senator McCain’s proposed Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute Settlement legislation.
This legislation preliminarily included the attached map, (see also our detailed maps showing affected trails). This land would go to the Arizona State Land Department. The State Land Department does not maintain their land as public land. Special permits are required to access State Land, the AZSLD does not build or maintain trails, and they may sell their land at any point to benefit the State school system.
