Flagstaff Biking is continuing its commitment to the maintenance and construction of bicycle friendly trails in Northern Arizona again for 2008. Once again, we are teaming up with several agencies and other trail groups in the region to help keep the area’s trails fun and sustainable.

FBO has 9 events scheduled for the 2008 season, please come out and join us in an effort to give back to the great multi-use trails here in Northern Arizona. All Trail events start at 8:30 am and conclude with lunch at 1:00 pm unless otherwise noted. Coffee will be served between 8:00 am and 8:30 am, and snacks, beverages, tasty lunch and FUN are all provided.
Sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, sunscreen, water, a hat or head protection are required. Hardhats, gloves, tools, and trail work instructions will be provided. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/gaurdian. For more information, call Anthony Quintile @ 928-779-5969 or email him.

May 3rd IMBA Trail Care Crew visit
- Peaks Ranger District office, Campbell Mesa, meet at US Forest Service Peaks District offices across from the Flagstaff Mall at 9:00 am for morning classroom training. Lunch will be provided courtesy of Biff’s Bagels. After lunch we will go out on some trail and apply some of what we have learned. Please RSVP to trails@flagstaffbiking.org

July 26th, AZ Trail through Hart Prairie with Arizona Trail Association and Northern Arizona Trail Runners Association
“Close the Gap - Finish the Arizona Trail.” The longest unbuilt gap in the AZ Trail is in the San Francisco Peaks Passage (about 16 miles) near Mt. Humphrey’s in the Flagstaff area. 94% of the 807 miles of projected trail running north-south through Arizona are done. Be a part of this great effort as Flagstaff area trail stewards join forces. These events are a cooperative effort of the Coconino Forest Service, the Arizona Trail Association, Flagstaff Biking Organization, Northern Arizona Trail Runners, Flagstaff Hiking Club, and many other state-wide volunteers. The July event leaders are Flagstaff Biking Organization and Northern Arizona Trail Runners.
Tools, Saturday lunch, and prizes provided. Work will be at about 9,000 feet elevation. Porta-potty available. Options: dispersed tent camping, room for RV’s and campers Friday and Saturday evenings. May work Saturday or Sunday or both. Make your reservations now. Information on schedule, location and what to bring will be provided when you sign up. August 9th, Benham Trail, Kaibab National Forest
- We have expanded our August 9 trail day to include a campout on Friday night, August 8. Campsites will be along the forest service road between Perkinsville Road and the Trailhead. Those interested in camping should contact John Tingerthal, 928-699-0196 so we can get a headcount for dinner and breakfast. “Williams Clean & Beautiful” has graciously volunteered to provide dinner and breakfast for the campout, so please RSVP for it.

- For those coming out on Saturday morning, meet at 8:30 am at Benham T.H. off of Perkinsville Road, south of Williams.
- Directions:
Exit 163, N. Grand Canyon Blvd., in Williams. Proceed south on N. Grand Canyon Blvd. to Historic Route 66. Turn right. In two blocks, turn left on North 4th street. Proceed on south on N. 4th Street until it becomes Perkinsville Road. The Benham Trail Head is roughly 4 miles south of Williams on the right hand side of the road. Here’s a map to Benham Trailhead.

Sept 6th, The Pedals vs Pistons vs Horseshoes vs. Hiking Boots Challenge!
- JOIN THE CHALLENGE! Let’s see which trail user group can show up in the greatest numbers for this great trail! Let’s complete it in time to celebrate the fall colors on it. Fort Valley trail construction on Upper Moto Trail.
- A lovely trophy is on the line for the winning group… they will hold that trophy until next year’s challenge. Join this fun event… we ALL WIN when we work together to build good trail and strong trail-user relationships.
- Meet for this event at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 6th, at Friedlein Prairie Road intersection with Snowbowl Road, about 9.5 miles from Flagstaff City Hall. Here’s a map to Freidlein Prairie Road.
Sept. 13th, Lower Little Bear trail
- Meet at 8:30 am between Schultz Pass and the Horse Camp on Elden Springs Road. We are contemplating incorporating a campout with this event…stay tuned.
Oct. 11th, USFS Loop Trail, Walnut Canyon/ To Be Determined
- This year we begin work on the long-anticipated Loop Trail around Flagstaff. Believe it or not, it’s harder to dig through government paper work than to build a super-sweet water bar with a nice kicker…so stay tuned for details.
