This Family, Fun & Fitness ride leaves from the downtown Mt Line bus transfer station on West Phoenix Ave (near Biff’s Bagels and across from Fratelli Pizza, see Google map here). We will explore about 10 miles of Flagstaff’s Urban trails. The sun sets at 7:23pm, the Moon rises at 7:45pm, and we pedal into the sunset at 8pm, returning around 10pm. No one is left behind.

   You need to bring a good working bike, a helmet; a mounted flashlight, headlight or lighting system; blinkie light or rear reflector, and light and/or reflective clothing for cooling (yeah!) temperatures. Be prepared to ride on paved and gravel surfaced FUTS trails (Flag Urban Trails). There are a few short but steep hills, but it’s mostly flat.

   Last year we had great turn-out and everyone had a blast… Beat the Heat and Join the Flagstaff’s Night Set for this Cooool adventure! Finish Friday Art Walk with a bang!

    We will have some raffle prizes, and offer FBO Blinkie lights ($15) and memberships to support FBO.

Led by Jack Welch and Martin Ince, more than 25 riders of all ages rode the urban trail and through quiet neighborhoods by the light of the full moon and a handful of headlamps. Meet FBO at the Shultz Creek Trailhead (off Shultz Pass Rd. about 1/4 mile past the Y with Elden Lookout Rd.) from 8:30am to 10am for pancakes! We’ll lead rides for various ages and levels after the feast.

Our first Pancake Ride of 2007 was held at Fort Tuthill on Father’s Day, June 17. We had a large turnout for waffles, eggs, pancakes, sausages, and potatoes prepared by TC Eberly, Grant Dunstan, Mark Gullo, Susan Hueftle (who made the FBO Pancakes in the photo) and other noble volunteers. At 10 am we split into two large groups (one consisting of adults and one of kids and their parents) for rides on the Soldiers’ Trail loop and the connector loop between Fort Tuthill and Highway 89A. You can see photos from the kids’ and parents’ ride in our Images Gallery.

We will hold Pancake Rides one Sunday a month, on the following dates:
Sunday, August 12
Sunday, September 9

Details about ride times and locations will be announced as the dates approach.

At most of our Pancake Rides, cooking starts at 8:30 and rides commence at 10. Everyone who wants to ride after breakfast may join a group for a guided ride, which may include any or all of the following categories:

1. Beginner Adult
2. Intermediate Adult
3. Advanced Adult
4. Family Ride
5. Ladies’ Ride
6. Kids’ Ride (may be two levels)
