Bike Bazaar & Parade
Sunday May 10th, 9 AM to 2 PM ~ Heritage Square Downtown
Kick off the week with hundreds of your bicycling brethren.
People Powered Parade:
Everyone loves a parade, but why are they always full of pollution spewing cars and trucks with people inside waving? During our inaugural event in 2002 we saw that Flagstaff can do better. If you can pedal it, pull it, push it, ride it, carry it, or wear it: you’re IN. The more outrageous the better! Our parade route will be just about 2 miles this year–and as always–flat. It stages at 11AM at the City Hall parking lot south of the library on Aspen street and will conclude at Heritage Square downtown.
Bike Bazaar
Building on the success of previous years we increased the number of activities in the square so that there will be something for everyone from the newbie, to commuter to racer, young and old.
Bike Swap
A great opportunity to cheaply stock up on needed and/or desired bike gear. Tables are available for a $20 donation to set up wares for sale. This $20 goes directly into the budget for FBO to allow us to continue our bicycle advocacy efforts in Northern Arizona. Reserve you table HERE!
Bike Recycling
We will be selling donated bikes that we have refurbished. You can also donated your unneeded bicycles so we can fix them up and get them to people who need them. Donate your old bikes to us now so we’ll have them ready for the Swap. This blue and white Dr Seuss-like single-speed sweetie was auctioned off, and picked up for a steal! Contact Susan@flagstaffbiking.org or call her at 928-853-5542 to arrange a drop-off or pick-up.
Bicycle Powered Smoothies
Leave it up to the folks from WL Gore to come up with Bicycle Powered Smoothies! Team Pedal Power (Alex Koss, Ryan Schmidt and Joe Shannon-Thanks guys!) was serving up your favorite fruity mix powered by nothing else except for 100% human energy! You guys were awesome!
Helmet Sales
FBO sold 84 helmets at below cost last year at the Bike Bazaar. We recognize the importance of safety and cost should not be a barrier to riding safe. Helmets will be up for sale again this year… both bicycle helmets and multi-sport for a cool $10.
Free Bicycle Safety T-Shirts for Kids
Flagstaff Biking Organization, together with Scully Screen Printing and the Coconino Safekids Coalition, were able to offer 75 t-shirts to kids about bike safety! The best part? The kids got to color the shirts themselves with crayons. TC Eberly and Carrie Cultra, coloring and ironing experts, then skillfully ironed on the design and let the kids show off their creation! We saw some fabulous designs like the one below.
