Hey Flagstaff Bike Commuters!!

Yesterday nearly 800 kids rode their bicycles to school for Bike to School Day!

The winner in the Over 400 students category is DiMiguel with 44% participation and 231 riders. 2nd place and an honorable mention to Marshal with 202 riders and 34% participation

The winner in the 200-400 students category is Pine Forest with 18% participation and 40 riders.

Mountain School won the under 200 students category with 19% participation and 38 riders.

Flagstaff High won the High School category, just barely beating Coconino High. (We’re not gonna talk about numbers at the high schools- suffice it to say there is some room for improvement with you high schoolers!)

Today’ Bike to Breakfast stops fed hundreds of cyclist on their way to work! Be sure to vote for your favorite Breakfast Stop here.

Join Martin Ince for a free presentation on safe bike riding techniques,at Flagstaff Medical Center/ McGee Auditorium between 5:30 and 6:30.

Or, join Flagstaff Tweed for a Tweed Ride from Flagstaff Bike Revolution / Mother Road Brewery, 3 South Mike’s Pike at 6:00 pm. A leisurely and dignified ride about town!

Lowell Observatory “Mars Hill Challenge Ride”

Mars Hill Road …. yeah, you probably know it, the paved ½-mile winding climb from Thorpe Park to the scenic overlook and then up to Lowell Observatory that beckons cyclists to pit their aerobic prowess against its steep 10-12% grade.

As a regular BTWW work site participant, Lowell Observatory is sponsoring the “Mars Hill Challenge Ride” as one of this year’s BTWW scheduled events.

On Thursday, June 7th, anytime between 9:00am and 5:00pm, we challenge local cyclists to bike up Mars Hill to the Lowell Observatory Steele Visitor Center and experience first-hand what Lowell BTWW riders must cope with all week long.  The reward?  A FREE “2 for 1? guest pass to Lowell Observatory to redeem at your leisure along with a refreshing bottle of water.  Just show your bike helmet to the front desk greeter in the Visitor Center when you reach the top. Jack & Martin’s Excellent Adventure Cruiser Ride — starting at 5:30pm Meet at the Flagstaff Visitor Center for a leisurely loop on the Flagstaff Urban Trail System. Bring your friends, and your helmet! All riders are welcome!

Kid-I-cal Mass Ride Meet at the NAU north quad amphitheater at 6pm. The route will loop through NAU campus and back to the quad for a movie and snacks!?All ages invited.

And immediately to follow…

Bike-in Movie, starting at 7pm Bike-in Movie at NAU north quad amphitheater starting around 7:00pm. Free snacks will be served.?We will be showing the *NEW* Muppets movie.
