Help IMBA Keep Mountain Bike Access on the Great Divide Trail!

When it comes to the longest trails in the country, mountain bikes haven’t been welcome.

Congress banned bicycles from the Appalachian Trail before our sport evolved, and access to the Pacific Crest Trail was eliminated in 1988, before mountain bike advocacy had fully developed. With nearly 5,000 miles of iconic trail off-limits on either coast, mountain bikers have had to look to the Rocky Mountains for their taste of epic, backcountry riding. (more…)

Meet at: Spring Valley Trail Head

Directions from Flagstaff

Take I-40 west to the Parks exit.

Go north to Parks and take CR- 141/ Spring Valley Road 6 miles to the end of the pavement.

Spring Valley Trail Head is on the left.

All Trail Events start at 9:30am and will end at 3pm. Lunch and refreshments provided at all events. Raffle prizes and trail T-shirts eligible to all volunteers. Please wear protective footwear and headgear (your bike helmet will work), long pants, and bring gloves if you have them. Tools and protective gear will be provided.

Yesterday we had 320 people register on flagstaffbiking.org as having ridden their bicycles to work! Let’s keep that momentum going today.

June 23rd trail day- Lower Brookbank

Monday, May 14th, 2007

The meeting location for the June 23rd Trail Work Day will be at the Lower Brookbank Trail Head on Elden Lookout Road, between 9:00 am and 9:30 am. We will be doing trail maintenance on various sections of Lower Brookbank. Please wear long pants, work shoes, gloves and a helmet. Lunch and coffee will be served courtesy of Biff’s Bagels and Late for the Train (thank you Biff’s and LFTT!). Bring water, we will have more.
